Default Who is using the stock maf?

Anyone with something bigger than stock? 85mm? Is there any purpose with going bigger than a stock maf?

Stock maf will be easiest to tune, and if you are boosting, you are forcing air through anyway. For N/A apps a bigger maf will help, but for boost, probably not necessary.

I'm not too terribly worried about the tuning part. I'm moreso worried that the stock maf wont flow enough air for a 600rwhp car. I'm also talking with the stock ecm.

652 rwhp on a stock MAF (2000 model) on the last C5 A&A D1SC kit I tuned so you should be OK.

Not too sure you are really going to find a maf that will allow to detect more air flow. You can increase the stocker slightly by modding it, and that is all you will most likely get anyway if you buy one that allows for higher frequency reading. Either way, the stock PCM will only allow up to a certain frequency to be read and it usually equates to about 500-550HP. Im pretty sure about this.

Now what this means is that you cannot rely on the MAF and PCM to control your fuel delivery based on increased air intake after roughly 500-550HP. Not a problem!
You must manually edit the PE vs RPM table (increase values) and the fuel delivery will be based on static values only, and not dynamic maf readings.

Basically, you can make a ton of power...600RWHP,700RWHP...
You just have to increase that PE vs RPM table and have a wideband handy. Either get on a dyno or get an LM-1 Handheld wideband. We actually sell the LM-1 on our web site, if you are interested. There is nothing wrong with tuning this way...

So basically what you're saying is there is no point in going to an 85mm maf. The only difference would be that it would max out a little later than the stocker?

the larger maf can still only read the computer max of like 513 grams per second, so it really shouldnt matter which maf you use

This is a must, if you have one it should be very easy to get it tuned out. Everything I have seen you can still make big HP on a stock maf especially FI.
