Here's a few pics guys on the "old" motor, and these were taken during the original mock-up of the parts

Wow that looks like a fairly simple yet effective design!

Are they truck manifolds from a 6L or something? Could you have the same clearance with 2000 and up F-body manifolds?

Cant wait to see final pics!!

they are the 6.0's i believe.
rice_etr put some 2000 up headers on his custom kit, think he had to clearance them though.

so the 6L fit without clearancing?

They are 6.0L manifolds and the only clearancing is for the steering knuckle. A solid piece was made for this because the factory piece is partially plastic and would melt. Otherwise, a tubular K-member with tubular mounts and a home-fabbed motor plate. Trust me, this is no "bolt-in", and the guys that did it put lots of time into it.

Another note that is of some interest.
When we first hooked up the boost controller the lines were reversed causing a massive overboost. So here are some numbers from 5000 rpm at 36psi!
1594 ft lbs@5000
1517 hp@5000

Not sure how long it would hold that level but it sounded cool!!

I meant frame clearancing. I know a Kmember/plate setup would probably be necessary

could it do womething the way the motor plate held everything.
when i did some um research fitting the 6.0's cleared no problem. the only thing was on the passenger side the bolts would hit the steering line so it would have to be moved.
one theing i know they wont flip upside down cause the shock towers arnt wide enough.
i had some pictures but my home computer hard drive crashed.

I have the same story. I have all the parts for my turbo kit and enough money to buy the rods/pistons and rings/bearings but then I still need a fuel pump, injectors, Big Stuff 3. I wish I could find a sponsor for this ****. LOL New job may be coming my way in which case the Sponsored by Self Racing could get a leg up but nothing is set in stone. LOL

todd could you PLEASE go over this more with a pic or two? sounds like a DANGER for those of us with high underhood temperatures.. sounds like the same thing ARE dealt with on warbird's qmp car when it melted completely and Wade lost steeering! I would like one of whatever you made either way.

A new rod was made by a local friend. I don't have pics or details about it. Perhaps the owner will chime in? I believe the power steering lines would hamper the use of the manifolds, but who needs PS on an 8-second race car that is not street driven?

First let me say that what ever this motor goes into is gonna be fairly quick. The guys at W2W kick ***.

Now onto the 6.0 manifolds. They can be used with no clearancing of anything. The alternator has to be relocated up top and new custom power steering lines have to be made. I'm in the process of doing all this now on my CE. The stock steering knuckle is filled with rubber/plastic on the bottom joint. This ends up less than an inch from the manifold. We just bought solid steel U-joints and made a new shaft. Do not use the stock shaft the manifolds get way to hot.
