Default Intercooler help!!!

Need some help thinking.... I am installing a Duramax air/air intercooler in a Full size truck...
Here is my question..
I will be using methanol injection and nitrous and wanted to inject pre-intercooler so it would also work to cool the intercooler..
Is this a good Idea or bad?

Next question..
Intercooler is 3 inch maf is 4 inch
It seems to me that it would be a bad idea to go from 3 inch to 4 inch back to 3 inch? It also seems that it would be hard to tune since the amount of air passing through the maf before then condensing and going through the intercooler would be different... Am I thinking right?

As usual all help and ideas good or bad are very appreciated!

IMO yes it is a bad idea.

If the intercooler is efficient then it wont need additional cooling. I'm running 13psi out of a turbo into a decent sized IC and I only see about a 17deg jump in IATs without the methanol. If I were to spray the meth AFTER the IC and MAF I'm sure I could get below ambient but either way IATs are still decently low.

Problem with spraying before the IC is that the liquid meth will collect inside the IC which is bad for flow AND will cause corrosion due to the chemical properties of methanol on metal over time. The other problem you will have is most FI setups on newer style trucks place the MAF AFTER the IC which means you will be spraying methanol into the MAF and that's a bad idea all together.

Just keep things simple and spray the meth after all the other junk and last in line before hitting the MAF.

Ummm, Justin...
You do mean to "keep things simple and SPRAY the meth after all the other junk and last in line before AFTER the MAF", correct?

Just to clarify.

This I know, very bad idea!

I was trying to figure out a way to utilize the meth to cool the intercooler if possible, since its already there...

Didnt realize meth would leave a coating... hmmm......

Thanks for the opinion...

NP man

As long as that IC is efficient then you'll be fine mate. The meth will just be icing on the cake
