Default Good FI setup?

Hello. I've been browsing the forum for a bit and picked out a hot rod setup for my 2000 Trans Am A4. Tell me what you think and how these parts have treated you. I'm shooting for a street rod that can hold its own at the strip .

STS turbo at 8 psi with methanol injection
SY3500 converter
Pro Yank 4l60e
Strange 12 bolt rear
Strano revalves/lowering springs
Bigger radiator/ 160 thermo
Trans cooler
Lighter seats, wheels

Most opinion seems to be that with proper fueling, 8 psi is okay with stock internals. That is my primary concern. I was hoping for about 475 or so rwhp with respectable cornering ability.
Any input would be appreciated.

Sounds like a good setup, and truthfully you would not have to worry about upgrading your fuel system with the methanol kit, although it is always a good safety precaution anyway. You would have to see what your injector duty cycle is with the methanol and determine if you are maxing your injectors. Other than that, looks like a good setup.

Our LS1 test car is running high boost with methanol and an in house built 4l60e with PY3400E. If you give us a call, we will be more than happy to sort out the details for you pertaining to what you need for a successful setup.
For FI, you should consider the PY line of Yank converters.

Does the tune that STS sells work with the methanol injection? I live in North Dakota, and it's really hard to find anyplace to get a dyno tune done.

Default STS (Nelson Performance) Tune

The STS tune actually comes from Nelson Performance. Nelson Performance can customize the basic STS tune before they send it to you. Just let him know that you will be running methanol. Nelson Performance will modify the tune for free as long as you own the vehicle - all it would cost you is shipping on the PCM, which is about $10.

I think you'll hit your goal NP once tuning is done.


Just go slow and don't go nutty on the boost. Make sure and data log everything and you'll be fine. I love my setup

I would still be careful with the stock fuel system on 8psi. You will still probably max out the duty cycle on your injectors and I wouldn't trust the stock fuel pump but you can upgrade little by little if you play it safe.
