Default turbo on stock internals

Whats the highest pounds of boost an LS1 can handle with stock internals? I was thinking about getting an sts turbo but the idea of a rear mounted turbo is kind of a turn off. I'd rather buy a turbo thats mounted in the engine bay. Any suggestions? Also would leaving my current exhaust system(check sig) hurt the turbo's performance at all? I'd really like to keep them on. Thanks

P.S. Anyone have sound/video clips of a turbo LS1 with a blow off valve??

Can't tell you anything about the exhaust, but remember boost is only a measure of back pressure . . . so the psi will vary depending on setup. I ran 12psi on a completely stock block + 918 springs, and it couldn't take it. I think most people will tell you 8psi tops. I ran 10 no problem for a while, but @ 12psi I was 621/684 to the rear wheels, just too much. Hope this helps.

Without a cooler i would say 5psi on the sts kit, and with a cooler about 7-8psi with tuning. As for the exhaust which ever turbo system you choose your exhaust is going to be changed. The STS system we offer will allow you to keep the everything except the muffler. Email us if you have any questions.

all depends on the tune and fuel used

we've taken a few stock internal motors north of 14 psi on good gas. But you've gotta watch it close at that level.

some lose the motor at 8 if their not careful.

It's all about supporting the added air

i am also thinking about getting the sts kit and i dont mean to steal the thread but would there be any way to make the exhaust quiet?
