12psi with ARP head studs, MLS head gaskets, 10.8-11.2:1 afr and 15* advance. It can be done quite easily

cast pistons If there is any detonation, they crumble. It is a bit rich for my safety, but it's not washing the cylinders rich

I really should hop on a dyno and see if going with less timing but a little leaner makes more power. I doubt it would though.

How thick are your MLS? you probably added a few more CC to your head volume with those.

As noted earlier with my setup, P1SC with 2.8" , so I'm running 12 psi on stock heads (2001), I get 2# at 1800, 5# by 3K RPM, 10# at 5500, using 1.8 slp rockers, 1 7/8 grott ceramic coat long tubes with stock 3" Firehawk exhaust, 255lph inline walbro, 36# (slp stock type injectors, at pressure they are equivalant to running just over 42#), custom tuning by me (LS1 Edit - SD type MAfless tune) other than that everything else is stock. Running 17 degrees timing at 11.5:1 for safety in the heat in Palm Beach. No problems other than startup piston slap BS, (but that's another story)
I start running leaner at 5200 due to pressure loss at that volume ( drops to 55#, I know I need more fuel pump( I see DP in my future ), but ever since my Impala SS was stolen a couple months ago the Hawk has become my daily driver so I won't race it until the new 402 and fuel goodies get put in for more piece of mind. So for now I just don't go past 5K rpm. ( well ok I did a couple of times but I pretty much almost never do it anymore :wink :wink

You are right. Well actually I'm running a 64cc chamber with those mls gaskets too. Approx 9.0:1 compression ratio now.
I just posted that in regards to the Bottom End of these motors taking 12 psi. -like the topic said

Absolutely, I'm there with ya, after all, look what QMP did with their 120,000+ stocker, he hit a turbo with over 13.

2002 Z06, cam, full bolt ons, meth injection, 9 psi stock heads and shortblock. 12.0 AF, 25 deg timing with the meth inj. 617 rwhp 507 tq. No worries with 7 psi, thats just getting started.

(by the way, customer car, not mine, but applicable to the thread at hand)
