question about FI in an emissions legal setup

Default question about FI in an emissions legal setup

I am trying to look at the plan i am going to follow on my mods, and have come to the choice of either going with nitrous, or FI. i would rather go with a FI setup, but i am not sure if i can still set the car up to pass NC emissions testing. so my question would be, is there any problem with going with a turbo setup regaurding emissions testing? thanks

I don't know about a turbo setup but there are supercharged cars passing emissions.

The biggest problem that fast cars have with emission tests is their cam. If it has a lopey idle, that lope is from incomplete combustion. This will peg the hydrocarbons. My car with a fairly mild cam (214-224) barely passed the Ohio e-check test (with cats on). They have since changed the test so all they do now is scan the computer for 96 and up cars. I don't know about all states but Ohio has a waiver you can get if you spend over $300 trying to repair the car to pass the test. So even if there is no way the car can comply you can still get tags by spending $300 in emission related parts or repairs (plugs, wires, fuel filter etc.).

good info guys. i was wondering if i could make a FI setup that would pass cause when i was reading the FAQ, it said that higher LSA cams worked better with a FI setup. my cam now is a 218/218 .563/.563 114lsa, so it passes the sniffer just fine with carsound cats. so i wasnt sure if adding a turbo or S/C would increase my emissions or not.
