Most guys shoot for something with 0 or negative overlap. A 114LSA is a general rule, but what really matters is the overlap. Shoot for an overlap of 0 or slightly negative.

What is your CR?

I'd like to know too.

Say you have a 346CI, 10-1 CR, STG 2 Heads, running 5-8 lbs boost (turbo) and want it to have a slight lope to it.

Would a 220 224 .561 .561 116 lsa cam work?

that would work, but if your going turbo maybe a 224 220 - 115 would be better (the 115 or 114 would lope a little more)

my 224/224-114 loped pretty good with my cut out open, not sure if you ever heard it, when i capped it up you could barley hear it lope.

I always thought you wanted more exhaust duration to help spool the turbo faster to reduce lag time.

Bring your book to Norwalk, I want to check it out!

ok ill bring it

for what i have heared you want more intake duration, you will open up the intake valve longer allowing more air, since the exhasut valve is not open as long, but the same amount must get out, the velocity will be higher, this velocity in turn will help spool the turbo.

similar ive hear that it is related to your headers if you have an effiecnt header design, then you want the duration with an even split, if your header is inefficent you want more intake then exhaust.

there really needs to be dyno testing with several different types of cam directly compared to each other to really know

No expert here, but from what I've researched lately the whole reverse split vs. forward split issue is being discounted by cam makers and turbo companies a like. I was told it doesn't make a noticable difference if any difference.

Guys it all depends on the turbo setup. With a log syle manifold yes, a reverse split will be better suited since you have a greater chance of reversion due to the higher back pressure created by the manifold. Now on a true header style system with an efficient head unit attached a standard single pattern cam is your best bet. With some of the full blown race systems that get close to 1:1.5 ratio, they convert back to a standard split duration setup since the exhaust pressure is not nearly as high. It just all depends on the setup and components used with it.
