What size of turbo for 408 LS1?

Default What size of turbo for 408 LS1?

What is the biggest turbo you guys think i can spool on a 408 LS1. i was thinking a thumper series T-88 but i have been considering even bigger. what are your thoughts?

what are your power goals, a 402 should support a mid fram T88 nicely

I'd do a large frame or atleast mount the head unit where you will have enough room
for a lage frame to fit ,if you want to step it up a bit.

A t88 should support up to around 900 hp or so.

actually im looking for 1000+ rwhp. my buddy has dynoed 850 rwhp on a 76 stock cubes just built bottom end, cam and springs. it was on 12 pounds of boost. now he is looking to go 88 large frame and i want to be able to take him. what do ya think.

i swear to god he did i was there with him. its a custom kit that our buddy and him made. he has a sheet metal intake too. now he wants to hit 1000 RWHP and he says the large frame 88 will do it..

850 rwhp with 12 lbs. It can be done. I remember that MM&FF built a 331 running 13.5 pounds of boost and it made 1040 hp. Believe it or not.

A t88 will support 1250hp at the engine, so figure at drive train loss youll be close might have to step up to a 91, that willl gwt the job done if every thing else is up to the task

hawk should i go maybe even bigger than a 91?? i would be like to be at the 1200 rwhp mark.

Boost is just a number. With 12psi it is possible to make those numbers, what really matters is how much air is going through the motor and being effectively used. There in comes cam haeds intake compression so on and so forth.
