Default STS Kit and My H/C LS1

I had the Central Florida STS Dealer, Macedo Motorsports install an STS kit on my Z28. The car has a TR224 112 cam and a set of Macedo's CNC Heads with 64 cc Combustion chambers. My compression is too high and Macedo didn't want to put the Turbo on, but I obsolved him of any warranty issues if the motor pops. He and Tim Sloper had to work the computer pretty hard to get it to work with the heads and cam, but on 5 PSI the car cooked the dyno at 475 hp and 460 TQ, Tim was sure that we could have taken the power above 500 hp, but they wanted to keep the tune conservative and the bottom end togther. I drove the car today, woosh, at 3500 rpm the world turns into as blur like light speed. I was impressed that the car was actually a little quiter than the before and the idle was smoother. I will try to track the car in the next two weeks and see how it differs.

Traction city Bithlo, I'll try to get out there next week. I think they have a funday coming up too. There is a bit of lag, but with the power the motor has it is not too noticeable, the boost almost feels like a shot of nitrous. Unlike many that have put the kit on, I already have the 12 bolt, clutch, and other hardware needed for the power, only problem are the 4:11 gears. I may have to shift to 5th. This summer I was trapping 115-117 mph without the turbo and I was crossing the line at 6200-6300 rpm.

The Viper's a lot of fun, with a new clutch should be a solid 10.5 performer. How is the Caveman's car? Saw him a few weeks ago out at Bithlo but he took off before the end of the night someone said he had a problem?

He has been running consistent 10.9's and 11 doh's, his car is hooking up really well now , but he is gearing up for the no bull shootout, his car is at norris motorsports right now.

I'll let him comment on what he's getting done.

i need to get my car in the shop too I need some more boost.

You pretty much have stock compression with those heads, don't you? Maybe a tenth higher. I wouldn't think that would be an issue with the STS at only 5 pounds. ??

I'm guessing your 10.4 or 10.5, LS6 range, depending on gaskets. Correct?

You got that STS done pretty quick. No problems with the red car I was just trying a few things different on my launch with a slipppery track, I set the rear shocks softer and was`nt loading the car as much, it did`nt work. So now I know what not to do, I also tried stiffer shocks and loading the rear pretty hard off the line and it came off real good. Bring that Vipper out for the No Bull on Sun 12/12, you might make a few rounds with it.

They are the 4.8 heads with cut combustion chambers, I put the compression at 10.6-10.7. Toohigh for a good turbo application, but I had the kit and I don't have the turbo motor yet so I decided to go with it anyway. Tim and Larry did a great job, the car idles smoother than before.

Caveman,

Yeah Larry cranked it out pretty quick. Your car hooks hard, if I set the Viper up like you have done I'd probably be looking at low 10s. Can't make the 12th, we have the V-10 Nationals in Bradenton that weekend, racing for points can't miss it. I'll probably go out Wednesday, maybe I'll see you there.

I'll run the good stuff on race days. I have TR6s at .032. The way it is tuned it is not detonating on 93, but I know the street and the track are different than the dyno.

Watch out for in intake temp's.At the end of the track they might be over 250 degree's and will slow the car down on the top end.Throw on a OBX front mount intercooler and really feel some power.Drop's the intake temp ALOT.

(don't know if you are running Myth. or intercooler though)
