Default benefits of FMIC over Vortech's aftercooler on big blower?

just thinking about switching from the "stock" Vortech aftercooler (air to water) to a FMIC (air to air) with this 383 LT1 YSi Vortech blower combo. my tuner says it is imperitive i go to the big FMIC because i will loose boost through the much smaller Aftercooler unit. this isnt a race car but just a street car so absolute max effort isnt a huge issue. also i already have the aftercooler to it would just be spending the additional money on the FMIC and ditching the one i have. what do you think? is it a major restriction? looking to make atleast 16 psi on this motor on an 8 rib belt.

TIA

16 psi thru a YSi and the stock aftercooler is not efficient, you need a bigger intercooler of some kind. You can put together a complete FMIC with piping for between $750--1000.

from what ive read, the t trim overpowers the aftercooler, and causes the aftercooler to become a restrictor, nevermind a YSi.
