Default AMW catch can in FI setup.

AMW recommends using a check valve in a FI setup and I was wondering how many of you are doing this and if the check valve is really necessary?

Thanks,

just attach the pcv valves to the atmouspher or attach them to a catch can then vent

Paul, with the boost you will be running at first, the pcv system that comes with the kit will work well. On one car, we just put a filter on the valve cover and sealed the opening to the throttle body.

Does anyone have any pics as to how to vent to atmosphere and what is used?? Im going to be doing a catch can, but it seems most prefer to vent as opposed to using a one way check valve.

Well PVC valves do not hold up against boost very well they were designed for vacum not boost. Ceck valve almost always needed unless it is very little boost. Picked mine up at www.mcmaster.com. Some one on the board put me on to them and it works great.
Got Me Some- You can keep tring but I think your problems are mor serious like ring glands or some thing you can look at mine in the pictures and just so you know there was no knock at all when I was scanning it zero KR. I am not saying you have it as bad or as many pistons or even this exact problem, but this is what usually happens to nonforged bottom ends when they are FI. Do a leak down and see what you got.

If the dipstick is poping out think about how much pressure it would take to do that, sounds like ringland problems (been there) I am using the Mighty Mouse set up and it works great. Metco breather on pass side, Valve cover breather in the rubber grommet on the back of the driverside VC (Just stick it in, mine has NEVER come out) LS6 valley cover with hose going to the inlet hat of the turbo or blower to provide vaccum at boost and then cap the intake nipple and VC nipples. No catch cans no smoke no built up pressure. I have run this setup to almost 7000rpm on the dyno and Mighty Mouse is making over 800hp with this setup. Mine does not suck any oil out of the engine. Just an idea for people looking for alternatives, I couldnt find a good place for a catch can that I was happy with. Also not sure which VC's MM has but he says that he runs the Metco on both sides, I couldnt figure that out unless he has 2 pass side VC's

10/4 I'm thinking its ringlands too but I'm in denial right now.

osuhunter07- I used the 7775k53 check valve with two brass male barbed fitings one for each end etc. Works good for me and has for a while.
libertine1015- I have been thinking of this for a while and just not sure if my Super charger will pull enough of a vacum around town driving. Because under full boost I think anything would be better than having it just block off etc. But around town I still pull between 12-20 lbs of vacum so I am just ok with my set up until I can figure out more on a good boosted vacum source etc. Although I had a good idea just now I will work on it more later. Thanks for the little bit of info.
