Default Strange problem here....

I took the truck to Futral today to get it dynoed and tuned. Well, the truck is making horibbly low power. I dont even want to say what it did, but it is alot less than what it made with the stock 6.0.
Here is what is going on.......
1. saw 15psi boost with same pully that only made 8-9 on other engine. No detonation or knock.
2. This cams power(224/230 581/592 114lsa) Peaked and tapered out at a slightly lower rpm than the stock cam
We talked about possible causes for this. It looks like the cam was installed incorrectly. Off a couple of teeth or somthing. Must have the valve timing all
screwed up. The high boost is an indication of a restriction, and since it didnt detonate it must be backing up in the manifold. I ended up leaving the truck with Allan to look into it. Hopefully it will be as easy as pulling the front cover and getting the cam set right. I know I have left my truck in very good hands
The engine is a stock bore 6.0. Only change when rebuilt was the cam and a set of diamond pistons. Everything else on the truck is the same as my 442rwhp dyno pull with a completely stock 6.0.

Hope you get everything taken care of. I have never heard of a cam being installed incorrecty and the motor still working enough to drive. Did you notice any bogging, stalling, or anything like that on the drive over there?

Thats the weird thing, it actually runs ok. No stalling, no miss. Just showing a huge amount of boost on the gage, making poor power and the cam isnt pulling into the 6k mark like I would expect it to. Allan said it is possible to have the cam off and it still seem to run fine. He also mentioned that it is unlikely a good engine builder would make that kind of mistake though. I had a very reputable local shop build this engine. If it isnt the cam though, what in the world could make it show boost like that and it not make any power either. This strange **** allways seems to happen to me

I'm right there with you. We should start a club > "WHY ME CLUB" It could be a valve no opening all the way?? Was there anything resticting the exaust? What is your boost gauge conected to?

My exhaust is the same setup as on the other engine. 2.5 inch duals through an x-pipe and 2 magnaflows dumped. I would think if the exhaust was restricted it would run very poorly since it would only affect one bank because of the dual pipes. My boost gage reference is at the fuel pressure regulator reference. That is the same place I had it with the other engine as well. Now that I think about it, my fuel pressure showed higher than normal when under boost too, looks more and more like pressure is backing up into the manifold, which still could be the valve timing off.
