Default A general question regarding forced induction.

Before I begin, let me just say that I tried the search feature and didn't find the answer to the following question:

I've been hearing from my friends and other sources that automatic transmissions are generally better at keeping boost pressure than manual. In other words, a force inducted automatic is better than a force inducted manual car. Is this true? I'm not really sure if it is because according to your STS turbo dyno numbers, the cars with manual transmissions put out larger numbers. Sorry if this question may seem rather novice, but please don't make fun of me like some of you did the last time I tried to ask a question

Auto is better for turbo because you never have to lift your foot off the gas, also seems to get better traction off the line(builds boost). So the turbo will stay spooled till you let up. Great for bracket raceing. As for 6-speeds haveing high dyno numbers is because there is more drive-train loss in auto. But remember higher dyno numbers won't always will a race. I still like 6-speed.

also a stock 6 speed is stronger then a stock 4speed
on the 6speed you usaully just have to replace the clutch, till you get real high in power.
on an auto, you have to put in a converter, and a stronger build.

If you pan on using a A4 with a high HP set up you are going to need some bad *** parts inside. I had Rock-On build my tranny. They built the tranny for the worlds fastest lt1 F-body but it is not a 4l60e. It will last the question is how long.

If you have a high torque engine an A4 will flat out run an M6 just b/c of the wider rpm useage range.
