Default FMIC w/o hacking any sheet metal

Just took the front end off to start producing FMIC kits and found that no cutting is involved to fit a pretty big IC. The IC that I just ordered was 25x10x3.5 core size. We're working on a 2000WS6. What are the differences I will see on the regular TA, SS, and Z28? Every single FMIC I've seen on an F-body required some cutting so I was quite supprised when no cutting was involved for this one. Only thing though is the fog lights had to be removed.

Pics will be availible sometime early next week. Price will be right around $450 for just the IC and $700 with pipings

Glad you are making progess.

Are you going to do one for a Camaro?

The "Y" Bumper support I don't mind cutting to get the IC to fit, my main concern is cutting the actual bumper, ie, remove front grill, cut plastic behind it, cut foam, mount IC and using either no grill or one of those metal grills.

I know, I ask for too much...

Keep us posted as to how that single kit you're working on comes out. I for one am very intrested. If you have any details as to how the setup is going to be, plesae P.M. me, or e-mail my home address (ljo524@aol.com) I have a 2001 ws-6, so I'm working with the same car that you are at this point.

You shouldn't have to cut anything to put the intercooler in. Now with plumbing it I don't know. But you don't have cut the foam behind the bumper to take the support out. If not then there's some cutting to do.

will be interesting to see what they come up with.

LT1-7 - does the foam support have to be cut to make this fit? I have to think it would if your mounting down where you would be forced to remove fog lights. Just trying to imagine what you have come up with.

Hey bill I know its not the best streetdesign but what about an air to water cooler. I know its going to be pretty hard to do an intercooler that gets direct airflow without cutting up the bumper. just a thought

Mounted up the FMIC tonight and everything looks good. One thing that will need to be done is taking the foam under the bumper cover out. I'm sure people don't mind doing this but if you do, please say so. Anyways, we fitted the FMIC and will probably post pics on sunday. We are setting the price of the IC at $450 plus shipping.

There will possibly be two FMIC we'll be selling. For $450 the core size will be 25x10x3. We can also get 26x12x5 for people with over 1000hp. Replacing the metal bumper might be required.

One other question. Who would be willing to replace the whole metal bumper? We can fabricate FMIC mounts that bolt directly where the metal bumper mounts. Just an idea and wanted to know if there are any interest

Very impressed you are trying to make 2 versions to suite everyones needs.

Just my opinion, so here me out:

The more plug and play you make the kit, the more regular people will buy them (non Drag racers) You will sell WAY more kits than for the hard core racers. Take a step back and look at the market, way more street cars than drag cars. If you can do a somewhat plug and play kit and advertise in some magazines you'll be very busy making kits and making a ton of $$$!!!

Well, I can make a huge FMIC fit in the front by using existing mounts when taking off the bumper, just don't know how many people are willing to do that. But I can definitely make it bolt on, that's not a problem. That's why I wanted to come out with two versions. One for the hardcore racers and one for the street cars

I personally would not mind removing the metal bumper at all and my car will be street driven quite a bit...at least 3-4 times a week.

I would need something that supported 1300 fwhp. Do you think you could provide me with something for that? Also, this would be for a twin turbo setup.

I can easily come up with something for you. It would be cheaper if you just draw me a design and I just have it built. We would be happy to design something for you though if you just let us know what you need. We can also get 5" thick core IC's
