In the wicked street car category, Ronnie Duke and the Hardcore Motorsports team came back down to Bradenton for the second time in a month, and this time they accomplished their goal of putting their 2002 Trans Am into the record book. In December the team set the mark for a small-tire LS1-powered street car at 8.11, 168, but car owner Duke wasn’t satisfied. The seven-second barrier had never been breached by a car of this type, and the team from Michigan was determined to do it. On Thursday, driver Jason McNeil accomplished the impressive feat when he piloted the small block-powered hot rod through the top end in 7.94-seconds at 176 mph. To make the team’s week in Florida complete, he backed it up today with a blast of 7.96 at 175.

but, he needs about another second and about 20mph in the 1/4 to keep up with those boys! maybe he could contend with "limited street" if he could hook it up on a non-"w" tire...
