Default DSM BOV on a V8 turbo?

is this do-able? i have one with the pipe/flange sittin around in my basement from my 91 laser and its immac. i did a search and found some info but i think what im gettin at is that rather than goin with a large BOV with two ports from turbosmart or a single 50mm tial unit i want to save my money (thus the reason i made my FMIC from DSM cores and my trubos are toyota CT26's rebuilt...nice n cheap and trustworthy). im savin my pennies for my turbo LS1 regal project, lighter platform, more power, no use tryin to get a 4300# car into the 11's when i can get a 3500# car into the 10's or even 9's... so anyway, can i use a single DSM bov? or do i need 2?

I would run 2. If you run more than ~ 20#s, crush them

Definitly run at least two. Pretty good bang for the buck part.

I ran 10# on an LS1 with no issues. Don't bother with two unless you're thinking of more boost than that.

Why would you need 2? I ran 18psi without a problem on my old DSM. All I did was crush the top that way it holds more.

its not just about the amount of boost. its the amount of air thats being pushed through. the volume on a V8 sized turbo will be much more than a small 14b or even 16g mitsu turbo. yes, it will physically work, better than nothing at all, but there some inexspesive BOVs out there that will hol more, and flow more air than the DSM.

PS. mine leaked over 15psi....was like abuilt in boost controller lol.

i found an interesting article from teh turbomustangs.com board abtou tis subject, it was an article from dodgegarage.com that suggested rather than crushing it you should put a pressure line in from the underside that uses pressure from teh charge side to put pressure against the opposite side of the diaphram, apparently it causes the BOV to hold over 30PSI and alos makes the release VIOLENT and sounds like a high dollar Blitz or Turbosmart unit.

True I was thinking he ws going to run 5-8psi for some reason. I think anything under 10psi one would be ok but anything over that then I would use something better.
