Default Steve Turley 8.21 in Bradenton!!

I went to Bradenton for the U.S. Street Nats and in the morning Steve Turley ran 8.21@ 152mph, backing out at about 1100' for some reason. Next round 8.30@ 155 backing out again. Third round he spun or something and went 8.69@ 167, did`nt back out that time. Of coarse the faster cars in that class( 10.5 tire I beleive) were running 7.3s .

They are still there so they cannot post yet. I spoke with Mike R. (local friend and gearhead of Steve and Mike's) yesterday during qualifying and they also ran an 8.21 then. But they could only leave the line on about 4 lbs of boost otherwise the car would pull to the right or left hard. The one time Steve left on 10lbs he had to get out of it. That car will contend for the record this year...I'll bet a paycheck on it. I'm sure they will give more detailed information when they get back. Oh yea....the car weighed somewhere around 3500#'s for the race...rumor has it their luggage was still in the car!

Mark

Just like Blown TA said there were lots of cars having traction problems along with Steves car. His run this morning looked real good, I could`nt see if it spun down track though. That would have been an 8.0 or 8.1 pass if he could have ran it thru. Some impressive runs for Steve and the boys, congrats.

On another note fellow Orlando guys Neiro, driver Brad Personette and the Titan crew ran 6.57@ 212mph 3 times this weekend in their new twin turbo Toyota. Their some good people, congrats guys .

that sucks, hopefully they get traction before they leave. They got to bump the record a bit more, keep it moving down.

The first run was a by (sp?). I must not have paid too much attention, since I didnt expect him to get into it too much. That car was awesome!
Was the guy in the black OBS coupe in the same class? He did consecutive 7.1's. That was a great time!

First off the Ohio Boys(myself and mike brown) would like to thank the crew for all their help this weekend in Bradenton(eddie, mike ress, nicole, brad, and even pat helped some i think when he wasnt sleeping off his hangover's ) Both of the 8.21 passes were going to be much faster but had a few problems,on the first the compressor pipe from the intercooler to throttle body blew off violently at about 1000' damaging alot of the dash pieces. On this pass the car went 5.28@139 in the 1/8th with a very soft 1.31 60 ft. so it was on a pass for sure. The second 8.21 the car got a little out of the groove about 1000' and i just lifted. Car ran great all weekend with the exception of a slight leak in the water pump which mike riged up a fix for to get us through eliminations. I'm not sure if we would have had anything for hardcores 7.94 but we were giving it hell trying!! Ran about 29-30 psi all weekend with no motor issues what so ever, the wheel 2 wheel 403 is awesome, it's coming out shortly and going back to kurt for routine inspection and freshening. If we had the bank roll like some of these teams we would covert to solid roller, big nasty cam, afr's,carb intake,105mm T/B, and spin it to 8k with about 35 psi. Then we would really see who's faster. We really need to get the bigger tire on the car now, the 28x10.5w is just not enough, hopefully the 29.5x10.5w will be much better we'll see in Atlanta. Thanks to everyone for their support and comments hoping for 7's someday

What happened on that 8.30 pass? I heard a couple loud pops. Its too bad, you guys left HARD on that one it looked like. You guys might remember me staring at your car evey chance I got. I was the big guy with the blue sleeveless shirt and my girl had the black top with black hat. We were probably the only idiots wearing nice shoes and not in shorts . Anyways NICE RUNS! Your car is just awesome!

I saw that S10 run 6.59@212mph twice on Sunday and Neiro said it went 6.55 in qualifying. There was also a team from Ocala FL with 2 twin tubro Celicas running 6.6s all weekend. The Summit Cavalier twin turbo was there but broke in the first round, I think he was in the 6.6s also. Harlan and Turley have their work cut out to get up with the turbo imports, of coarse I don`t ever see us lowly LS1 guys getting that kind of sponsor $$$.

$$$ is always a factor....but remember these guys (Mike/Steve, Harlan and even Hardcore) are working within the confines of the LS-Tech series rules as well. When's the last time you saw an import run high 6's or low 7's naturally aspirated....like the pro's...it's all relative to rules and money, no doubt!
