Please help diagnose this problem
The car idles fairly well, but as stated when I try to get on it the car falls on its face and feels very weak from a power stand point--almost as though it is not getting enough gas. I currently have dual walboro 255 lph intank pumps and have a fuel pressure of 45-50 psi at idle. When I turn the ignition key I can hear a pump priming up, but was wondering what would happen if one pump went bad and not the other......would the car nearly die on modest acceleration?? I believe the pumps are inline.
The reason that I suspect a fuel related issue is that two days ago I noticed after a high rpm run that there was a noticeable power loss after 5500 rpm and my gas tank was nearly empty. After filling it up the car seemed to run very stong again--temporarily until last night with a half tank it did it again.
My question is, if one pump was placed in the tank slightly lower than the other could you be running a pump dry and thus damage it?? As you can tell, I am not a master mechanic, but always looking to learn more about my car. I should note that I replace the fuel filter about 1000 miles ago also.
One other thought that I had was a broken valve spring, but I doubt that due to the fact that my car has less than 4000 miles on this engine (although it has a big cam..)
Thanks in advance for your advice/suggestions!
Now I have one more question. The three wires that connected to the female end of the MAF are red, black and yellow. Could someone be sooooo kind as to post a pic of their maf so that when I solder on the new connector I don't mix up the wires.
Thanks!
