Default Bad sales pitch??

I was talking to a Camaro shop about getting a supercharger installed on my new car (if I ever get the thing), and the guy was telling me this or that, nothing really spactacular. But when he found I was was still hunting for my next ride he offered to sell me one w/ 45k miles on it. The price was fair, but I'm looking for something a lot younger. Anyway, to keep it short, he told me that if I was going to go FI, then I shouldn't get a newer car anyway, because LS1's aren't broken in till around 40K miles, and FI can blow it up if you go before that.

I thaked the guy, and moved on, but was there any truth in what he said? Figured you guys would know.

Not really, I have about 2k on my 408 and its getting twin turbos, if I have a problem it will be with the tune.

The main reason I would go with a older car is the price, and I planned to build up the bottom end anyway. So if you got say a 98 100k mile ls1 and freshend up the bottom end with some new bearings, rods, pistons, rings, honed it, etc. You would be looking at a good stout bottom end to build up for whatever you wanted.

For sure, I wouldn't run it hard under boost the first few hundred miles, but anything after that should be fair game.

The Guy was just trying to sell you his 40K beater.. And having him say all that to you, he's just a fool..

I have 18K miles on my rebuild motor and have been running over 600RWHP with a fresh motor... Didn't boost it hard right away but with the rebuilt motor I ran it with the blower right away..

He's right in the fact that an LS1 will gain a few more horsepower as the miles roll on. Seem to peak anywhere from 20k to 50k miles. But this is just Naturally Aspirated stock (or close to it) engines we're talking about.

If I were boosting, I'd get the freshest example that I could find, if you dont plan on forging the motor soon.
