Default Mig welding stainless?

I was just wondering if stainless intercooler pipe can be welded with a standard gas mig welder? Is there a special wire that needs to be used?

I just ordered up some stainless bends and pipe for a fmic project on the truck. Now I'm wordering it welds like mild steel.

You can mig stainless just the same was as mild steel. Though stainless wire can be expensive.

If you arent fussy about it rusting, then mild steel wire works fine too.

I weld Carbon Steel/Stainless/Aluminum with my 110V MIG.

Here are some things to remember-

Use the following gases:

Carbon Steel - 75% Argon/25% CO2 Mixture
Stainless - 98% Argon/2% CO2 Mixture
Aluminum - 100% Hi Purity Argon

As a rule of thumb I use .025 wire for 16Ga and lighter material, and .030 wire for 18GA to 3/16" thk material
