Default Turbo 383 or 347??????????????????

I will be having my new setup built next year and am wondering which route to go? The difference in cost obviously is only the cost of the crank. What benefits would the 383 be over the 347 with the same turbo? Will there be a lot more botton end before the boost sets in? Is lowend not a problem with a single 76mm turbo? What would be the difference in dyno graphs? Its only a 950 dollar difference with an eagle crank should I go for it?

346's are doing fine with turbo applications, many people are running them - I would save the cash and invest it into the turbo setup unless you have some real specific goals that will require bigger cubic inches to meet.

I would put the money towards a lunati 347 crank and 'crank' the boost up.

A 383 will require bigger turbos which will cost you more money

It will, Harlan was running one forever, but it's still a gamble you have to take. 700 rwhp is alot to be running on a stock crank. Whether or not to go with a 347 or 383 is personal preference and $$ issue. If it's gonna be mainly a street car, the 383 with it's extra cubes will help make up for turbo lag/etc...either one will be plenty of H.P. probably, unless you're looking for some crazy numbers.

Here's a video of a local built 347 on E.T. streets vs. a KB cobra, just shows you how much power a built 347 will have (it's the very last race). The black turbo Z that looks like it loses to the Cobra half way through the video had a bad clutch and it stuck to the floor when they took off, he has a spec 4 on the way. It's a built single turbo 408.

thats sweet the z passes the kb cobra like it is standing still. Looks like 347 should do the trick. I am going to run the HP single turbo in stage three configuration as soon as it is released. Should be a pretty wicked setup.

Wow, the camaro really jumped out there at the end..
We sure the KB Cobra didn't lift?
Was it just a traction thing?

Yeah just traction, I can have the owner or builder of the SS post, or the owner of the KB cobra post, just traction. The cobra is getting some more HP as we speak though, so it should make for some more great videos

EDIT: And I screwed up, the other one that looks like it lost is a 372, not a 408. but it does have a stock crank.
