Default How much boost can I run?

Vehicle = 1999 SS camaro with a 382 LS6 block stroker. Stock LS1 heads/cam/intake/exhaust. Aftermarket valve springs, 8.85:1 pistons, STS Turbo system with the methynol injection.

How many psi of boost do you think I could run without the methynol?

You don't have a intercooler, from what I see, that is going to be a big drawback for you (I would highly recomend one)

If you were to get a intercooler, you could hit 9psi pretty easy on 93 octane pump gas.

With methonal you could probably run 13-15psi, your compression ratio looks pretty good on that motor.

But Intercooler > Methonal in any case, you can always add methonal to a intercooled setup later.

just out of curiosity, why replace the pistons, and leave the stock cam in? Also, what are you doing for a fuel system?

Here's the car = https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicles-sale-lsx-powered-only/275116-fs-1999-camaro-ss-382-stroker-turbo-dynoed-538-hp.html

I am buying this car as we speak and it is being delivered by the end of this month and was built that way. I would have put a nice turbo cam in it myself but it's too late until I decide to pay a shop to do it later on down the road.

Fuel system is completely upgraded and includes 60lb injectors.

The car made 538rwhp on this setup at 12psi with methynol.

To the other post: I do not have an intercooler but keep in mind it is an STS turbo which is located behind the car and has cool air flowing across the turbo while the car is moving. Their website show results of their system as compared to an intercooled engine with a turbo mounted in the engine compartment and the results seem very good.

But still, you're better off to intercool on top of that too. The air will pretty much only cool the turbine housing off, it'll cool the compressor housing and air charge some too, but not nearly as effective as an intercooler.

I agree, colder IATs will always be better, you will definantly be satisified with a intercooler on that car.

Ok I think I'll put an intercooler on my "to do" list. Thanks for the replies.

Looking at your listed setup and if you run an intercooler I don't see a problem running 15-16lbs of boost.Of course if the H/C is setup right I would expect around 800-850rwhp from a STS.Fuelling will be a problem and might call for a whole fuel system.

yeah, im with slowhawk on that one, around 15psi should be doable and fuel system may have to be upgraded some more, defiantely get an intercooler, id hate to think what my car would be putting down if i didnt have my IC, making 867rwhp with a STS kit on a 436 at 12lbs

How much can that kind of fuel system support before upgrades? I've got the 340, how's it flow compared to the 285 on this car?
