Default I think I smoked it already

Went out for a ride the other day and got on it a little bit, just a couple quick hits. I seen about 10 lbs and jumped off very quickly. When I get home I had to do a little burn out in the garage, just to hear the echo I went back out yesterday and took it for a quick ride, thing is shaking pretty bad and you deffinately feel it with little load. Anybody want to guess what happened, I figure I smoked a piston already because I still didn't have a tune and she probably went a little lean. I figure it's time to save for the better heads and bottom end now but does this sound familiar to anyone???

You hit 10lbs with no tuning?!!! If I had to guess I'd say she's blown.

Are you intercoolerd or have meth inj? Did you have your wastegate set to run that much boost? That sucks. You didnt have time to enjoy it at all.

I'm OBX intercooled, no meth injection. I thought the spring thats in it was supposed to be 7 lbs. I guss not I'm gonna pull the plugs (TR6's) tonight and hope one of them burnt/broke but I doubt it!

Maybe you will get lucky and you only closed up a gap or two. You do have your boost reference going to the side of the wastgate, and not the top right?

Sorry about your luck, do what Billy said and make sure your wastegate has no obstruction on the top. Anything over that hole will keep the plunger from opening, which in turn keeps boost from bleeding off. The skies the limit!

10 psi intercooled on a 67 tubo required me to pull the timing a peak tq to 11 degrees, stock it's around 24-26 degrees. You definately were detonating the **** out of it. I really hope for your sake it's only a plug gap issue. The tune is so important to the life of the motor.

It's official, I broke a ring land or cracked #4 piston. I done a compression check on her last night and all cylinders had above 160lbs except #4, it only had about 50'ish. I will now be installing Forged rods and pistons along with LS6 heads and intake. May be a long while though cause I don't have any cash for it right now.

Man, that sucks. Why would you beat on the engine w/o doing a tune first???

It sucks that you killed it, but it was your own fault. There is no reason that a stock ls1 can't make 500-600 rwhp for 15-20k miles and be reliable. The stock setup is very strong.

I don't understand why people get so antsy to go blow up their cars. Almost everyone I know who adds nitrous or boost blows up their car within a few hours to a few weeks. Power is a drug.

Hope you can get it rebuilt soon and doesn't cost too much. Don't boost til you tune it.
