Hey that tool box and newspaper looks familiar.

The coating that DART uses on those pistons is second to none. I saw some of their pistons from the Pro Stock program after a weekend testing and they looked perfect. Obviously a little carbon, but the coating was 100% intact.

power doesn't come cheap folks

Nick,
since you built my motor how long would you say the rings would last in a 600HP street driven 800+ at the track car?.....

How long would you say Matt???

yeah the ring thing is a good question, my car is only taken to the track one or twice a month durring the season, the rest of the time it's a good weather driver/cruise car.

Hey Nick. I think you guys at APE are builing nice motors and the coatings are definitely superior for NA motors. Just curious if raising the combustion temperature in FI due to coatings might be a drawback making a coated motor more detonation prone.

Corky Bell notes this in 'Supercharged!' also.
Are your Diamond pistons available without coatings?
It's definitely debatable.
For FI I think I would opt not to use the coating.
Would probably be difficult to prove the theory either way.

Anyone want to talk FI combustion temps with pump gas, etc? Detonation thresholds? Raise in combustion temp with coatings vs. non-coated?

P.S. Nice to see you taking the extra time and care to do coatings.

time will tell, i'm not at the mileage mark to be able to tell you by experience like i would want to if the stability of the iron block will extend life... that is the plan certainly.

i would be happy if it need refreshed no more than once a season.. that for me is about 15,000 miles... odds are i will keep dialing it up (boost) and the life will stay at 5,000

Has anyone coated the bearings and combustion chambers as well? Looks like it makes free horsepower. I think I'll get this when I get my shortblock done.
