Newbie 6.0L Whipple question

Default Newbie 6.0L Whipple question

New to this site so don't beat me up too bad.

Kinda of a general question here for you blower motor guru's...

I have a stock 6.0L motor in my 03 Chevy 2500HD that I put the Whipple 2.3L kit on. I've got about 60,000 miles on the motor total and 30,000 s/c miles on it and it runs strong but at 7 psi and pump gas I know I'm eventually going to have to rebuild the motor. I'll be pleased if it makes 100,000 but know it might not so I want to start planning for the future. So here's my question.....what would you guys do to this motor in the rebuild?? Keep in mind I still need to pass CA smog, sort of....if you know what I mean......I'd still like to run pump gas, premium is 91 octane out here.....and finally what should I be looking at spending for a quality rebuild/upgrade??

Punch it out to 400.....???..forged pistons....????.....8 to 1 compression...???....change the heads..???? ...cam???

PS The pic below is an old one, I've updated to the newer style Whipple kit with the injectors upstream of the compressor and a custom tuned ECM.

Welcome to the site, I'm sure some of the guy's will chime in and help you out. Punch it out to 400, forged pistons, 8 to 1 compression, cam. Looks like your heading in the right direction.

Thanks for the "Welcome". Looks like some good numbers for ya with the STS. Still haven't got mine on the dyno yet, maybe this summer.

Thanks, that was before the 02 PCM, IC, 44lb injectors,walbro 255lph , i need to get back and dyno it again.
