Smile boost numbers???

Hi i am wondering what you guys are doing to these engines to run with these turbo's are u simply bolting the kits on adding larger injectors and tunning for nock??? dont you normally have to lower compression for boost??? i know i did on my Vdub lol but it had 11.5:1 compression lol. just wondering if it is smart at all to run boost on a completely stock motor with bouts 20,000 miles?? im guessing i need lower compression heads or something dont i?????

Sounds like a smart idea. My motor came with a 10:1 and a boost 8.5 and haven't got low compression stuff yet and my engine is a few hundred miles shy of 20k.

Most people lower the CR when going with FI if they are going to be boosting to get big numbers. I know for a fact that I'll lower mine and forge the internals before I go turbo. There are also plenty of people making good numbers while staying with the stock CR. The tune is important. Just depends on what the power goals are. How much boost do you want to make? Lower compression heads wouldn't hurt.

well i was planing on about 5 lbs maybe 6 with an intercooler larger injectors and a tune here at the local dealer. i have managed to talk the dealler into sponsoring me persoanly for this project and was wondering if i could just bolt on the turbo set up and tune it withought blowing everything up haha. im having another forged motor built but prolly not till fall with all the money ive spent so far. it just seems like some of the ppl in here are bolting the turbo systems on and running 500 hp ??? with stock heads and cam and internals. i spoke to the local engine guruu today and he said he would prolly build the bottom end if plannign more than 500 hp but if i plan on just runnin bout that i should be ok. i just dont need to blow this motor up because it is basically just broke in.

I have a stock internal motor. I want to go forged, but that is when I bore it out to a 408. I have had my supercharger on my truck for almost 4 or 5 thousand miles and am about at 20 thousand miles on the truck. I haven't had many problems except for the tranny.

I am running 8lbs on a stock motor that has 135k on it. I have had no problems. 30k of it was with the turbo on. If your not going to do more than 8 or 10lbs go ahead. If your going anymore that that beef up the bottomend.
