Default 98 MAF Max

Sure isn't hard to max out a 98 MAF. 439.2g/s Comes up quick. What is the best method for increasing its range?

descreen/port the MAF or do the resistor trick. I have used the resistor trick and it worked pretty well up to ~9psi. Steve (s_j_h) wrote up a while back how to do it, I'll be doing it on this car as well

Thats nice, what is your max frequency? How many g/s? I know that I have hit the ceiling for max frequency on my maf. I know you are running some serious numbers, how did you get around it?

Its already descreened, but not ported in any way.

I plan on the resistor trick, unless somebody who can make GM maf's comes out with one that flows 1,000 g/s @ 11,000hz

OK then your MAF is maxed too, you just tune around it. Thats what I have been doing, there just has to be a better way.

HP tuners was or is releasing its 2-3bar map set up for the 98's at a later date, but haven't heard much on that topic other than the announcement of the 2-3 bar map SD set up. It could be out as I haven't hit their site up in a few weeks. It is currently out for 99+ I think.....it was the whole reason I got HP tuners tuner, but....like everything I buy I have to wait to use it for the reason I bought it for some reason or another

Other than that its the ol add fuel once the MAF is maxed deal..no solutions have been made to fix this problem on our FI rides...which is pretty weak since this has been a problem for a few years already.

well I have a 99+... but it's a truck. I was maxing the maf out on the dyno at around 10psi.

I'd like to know a solution without having to swap it out.

I have no bugs. I"m making 754rwhp at 6600 with unlocked 'verter and maxed out 83's at 50 psi base fuel. Sure sounds like 950 at the crank to me.

Man, always my luck. The SD 2-3bar set up was the main reason I made the decision to buy HP tuners...already had efilive and traded it in. So now it looks like us 98 guys are shafted by default. Damn 98's DAMN YOU TO HELL Someone will get it figured out..unfortunately it looks like I'll have to save up to get a BS3 or FAST system...at least the local tuners can tune with the FAST set up pretty easily.
