Default stupid question about slicks on Turbo'd F Bodys?

How many of you guys need slicks and how much power do you put out? I have a set of ET streets on some rims and I am considring selling them because last time I raced my car the Drag Radials hooked up like they were glued to the road! I am thinking I may not need the ET street's BUT I just dont know. I have only run it on low boost so I am not sure how its gona act on High boost? I am in the process of repairing the car so its not like I can go test it out on High Boost right now. What do you guys think? Just post any info or thoughts you might have? Thanks, lata, Ark

Traction is king . Dunno. Depends on how well those DRs do for ya and how hard you launch. Also how well the suspension transfers weight to plan them, which probably won't change that much from DRs to slicks.

People are going 7s on drag radials...nuff said.

It's all in the suspension setup. If you set the car up for a slick, good luck hooking on a drag radial.

If you start building boost off the line then there is no way in hell those DRs are going to keep you planted. Keep the ET Streets

I also think you should keep the ET streets. How much power are you making? With you r higher boost setting you'll probably blow the DR's off on a launch.

Not sure On the Power BUT I think its gona be around 450 on low when its all done to the rear. ON High I am hopping for and should be able to get about 600 RWHP. I think I am gona have to hang on to them for a while longer Just to make sure. I just dont see any point in selling something I may need in a few months? Thanks for the Input Guys, Lata, Ark

Having run Turbo Buicks and Mustangs and launching them on trans-brakes for years I will tell you that a slick is more forgiving of track conditions. Drag Radials and ET Streets are great but they are more dependant on track conditions. If you are running at a track that is not known for its traction then a slick is going to be your best choice. If your track of choice hooks well then it is more up to you and your suspension as to which tire to run. There are cars in the 7's in the 1/4 mile but their suspension setups are geared around the tire they run. Hope this helps. Cheers !!!

Somewhat off topic I know but since a turbo doesn't start creating boost unless its under a load, how do you launce a M6 with slicks off the line without bogging down?

2 step is a special rev limiter you activate at some RPM that allows you to hold WOT before dumping hte clutch and build boost.... In my v6 I could get 7-8 psi before the launch, then side step the clutch.... lol

Just wired mine up last night.

I wouldn't stay on it too long though. A friend's turbo '03 Cobra broke the impeller off the shaft from being on the 2-step too long.

I need a 2-step bad. I'm bogging at the strip terribly. My car should be running mid 11's with the trap. But I'm stuck in the mid 12's since the car runs like **** out of the hole. Bogs worse than a four cylinder. (2.3 60' times on BFG DR's).
