Default block/internals

I had this posted in internal but am getting no reply's

Im going to be building a motor for a turbo setup, Im curious wheter to stick with the 346 motor and get forged internal or move to something bigger like the slp 402.... now my questions

when sticking with the 346 is it better to switch the ls1 block for an iron block? and forge the internals?

Is there an engine builder i could talk to on here?

I have a 00 ws6

thanks

No an engine builder but...

What kind of power are you trying to generate? If you plan on being under 700 HP, the aluminum block should be fine. But the problem is that unless you sleeve the block, the overbore is minimal. Using an iron block gives increased displacement (364 CI with stock bore and stroke and 382 with a .060 overbore). The penalty for the added displacement is approximately 75 lbs. Remember, with any engine, there is no replacement for displacement.

If using a 4.000" stroker crank, the LS1/LS6 goes to 382, and the LQ4/LQ9 becomes a 402. If going forced induction, I'd go with forged pieces if possible. If running low boost levels, the stock bottom end would be fine.

Most places selling a 402 short block are using forged pieces and F/I engines are using dished (low compression) pistons.

I plan on forging all the internals aout 750hp.. so it would be better just to build the bigger engine..
