Question STS Engine setup suggestions

alright, so my engine just blew, didn't get it out yet. its was a stock internal 2001 ls1 camaro. tune wasnt as good as i thot it was basically. will show pics for ur ammusement in a couple days. but, puttin together a new set up, and researching now. i have the sts setup (if ur gona bash, dont bother posting cuz i heard it all before) with a GT67 turbo. my goal is a good weather street/track for fun driven car. i want around ~650+whp with a good curve, a nice smooth driver, but deadly when challenged. i also wana b able to crank that up if wanted (i.e. more boost) im thinkin l69 6l iron block with forged internals, 9:1, then im not sure about up top. i know a decent amount about engines, but not nearly as much as alot of u. so any suggestions on a set up are greatly appreciated. please include websites and prices. im not bill gates so keep the prices in control. it needs to be compatable with ls1 based accessories (a/c, clutch, t56, driveshaft, pumps, etc)

thanks in advance

Determined to beat that Civic, eh? Sorry to hear about the engine going on you. What exactly broke on it? Do you have any fueling upgrades already? You'll need either 60 or 75 lb injectors and a pretty beefy pump. The 6.0 L iron block is relatively economical, but the extra weight is a drawback. A forged 346 cid should be able to produce the power you want, and it might be a cheaper option. I was planning on buying one eventually. For heads, LQ9 based heads will lower your compression to about 9.5:1 and bolt right on, I believe.

just make sure yourtune is on next time, a bad tune can blow any engine
a forged 347 or 403 will get the job done.
youll have to switch turbos if your going witha bigger engine though.

i have all the fuel upgrades (ractraonix/walbro pump with 60#r's) , i have the bigger turbo (GT67) already. by forged 347 do u mean internals with the aluminum block?... idk what broke yet i gota get it apart. this is the last time i wana get into this engine so i wana make sure the contents are stong enough and then some to handle the power (with a good tune obviously)

that sucks, sorry to hear about your engine. Build the next one up and get a proper tune. do not run it if an SES light comes on until the light is resolved.

Good luck on your new 'project'.

364 iron, diamond pistons, eagle h-beam rods, stock 6L crank, Clevite bearings

a 67 is pushing it with that power.

what i just listed is a perfectly economical motor that will crank it out just like you need it to.

now go get that Civic!
