Anyone have any comparable Spearcos or Griffins logged? I honestly would like to see them.

Spearco Custom Made Intercooler 1500 CFM Core.
Target Efficiency 85%
Target Flow 1200 CFM @ 1.8 psi dP

Ambient Temp: 87 deg F
Ambient Press: 14.47 psia

Boost at Manifold: 15.2 psi
Boost at Super C: 16.53 psi
Supercharger Flow: 1188 CFM
Horsepower: 685 HP at ~6000 RPM

Temp at Manifold: 129 deg F
Temp at Super C: 249 deg F (partially interpolated from IGL)

dT above Ambient: 42 deg F (on the dyno)

With the above intercooler efficiency is 74% . Missed the cooler efficiency by 11%. Most likely because the car is sitting on a dyno (ie no forward air flow)
The target dP of 1.8 psi though was exceeded by 30% though

With forward airflow, the inlet temps drop to around 32 deg F above ambient which would indicate an intercooler efficiency of ~80% which is more inline with the target.

I'm sure most are just going to stare at the discharge temperature and sing the OBX's praise. An intercooler cannot be evaluated on just the discharge pressure alone. There are alot of other factors (inlet temperature, inlet massflow etc...) that need to be put into the calculation to determine the intercooler efficiency.

i remember when i bought mine that it said there was a .2psi drop at 15#s.which is great but like you said that doesnt speak for the temp drop.but from others whove tested it it seems like itll do the job nicely for anything other than a track star.

A 0.2 psi drop at 15#'s really doesn't mean anything. A dP across the intercooler really has to be given in a flow.

ie: I could make an intercooler have a 0.000000 psi drop at 100 lbs. Just weld the outlet of the intercooler shut. The flow is 0 however.

then maybe you should do that.start making FMIC's and rate them with .000000 pressure drop at 15#s and make millions.

I wonder how many I could get out the door before people realized their intercooler was rated at a wopping 0 CFM.
