Default What plugs for 15-18 psi?

I have searched, found nothing in this range. I am looking for about 15 to 18 psi of boost and am wondering what experience with plugs you've had. I am only running 92 octane. Some say NGK TR6, but I think one colder would be better. Is there a TR7, I haven't seen one. Anyone have a number for it?

not true, rick. The dash eight is two steps cooler than the TR6.

I have used TR6's as well as the quote unquote 7's. Ran 6's in the high teen to low 20 psi range. Switched to the 8's for a short time, but they fouled to easily for my taste and the 7's held up quite well. Ran those plugs anywhere from 24psi up to 30 psi last year.

i have ran up to 18psi so far on tr6's, i tried the tr7(br7ef) and didn't like the way they ran.

to go from stock to tr6 you can just barely tell they are in there, just a slighly worse idle. then goto the tr7's and it had an audiable miss at idle and felt much rougher. i have tried 2 sets of the 7's and they both ran the same so i went back to the tr6's. i figure i will step up to a colder plug when i show an actual need to step up.

yeah the LS1 heads dissipate heat well enough that you'll never need anything cooler than a 7-range. dash eights and nines are from some OHC motors and oil/air cooled motors like vee-dubs and porsches where the head runs much hotter.

I doubt I will ever be over 20 psi on pumpgas, But I was worried about a TR6 leading me to detonate at that level on pumpgas. BUT, sounds like a TR6 wouldn't be a bad place to start. I guess I will reconsider a TR6.

Did you keep the factory gap of .039 or did you gap them down. I have the TR7 IXs and am getting a little back fire (occasionally) at idle and when off throttle cruising.

Don't take a poll. Ask Kurt at W2W.

i bounce between a tr-6 and an autolite ar 3911 (per w2w)

i think the 3911 is a little colder than the tr6 but i havent noticed a difference in performance at mid teens boost.

What do you run the gap at on the TR6s? You still using stock plug wires.

Well I'm going to be running 15+ psi and on my N20 on my turbo set up. Before I ran just 300hp of spray and ran a auto lite Ar93, the straps are cut back and have a factory(auto lite) gap setting of .026. I would say the ngk's are a little more forgiving than the autolite as the ngk will melt the strap at a lower temp to save the cylinder unlike the auto lite. As for the my N20 set up on my car I never hurt a plug and that was on a stock short block and heads.

You can call the auto lite tech line, give them your application and they will give you a plug.

Default denso iridiums

I used the denso ir. at one point can remember the initials before the number but the were the -22s the equivalent to a tr6 I believe the gave the car a nice idle quality.......but I was having misfire problems and switched to tr6. It ended up not being the plugs but I was too lazy to put the densos back in they had a good cold start(densos). They are way too expensive though.
