Default tti alternator bracket help!

first things first, where does that small and big thing go? on the instructions it says theres a 3 inch support deally, well i assume thats the little one but where does that go? the instructions are really vague.

wheres this go and whats it do?

i assume the screws are supposed to go all the way into the head, correct? these dont want to go in that far.

also, this alt relocation bracket doesnt fit all that well. anyone else have to dremel the holes to make it line up to the block and head? (stock ls1 heads).

also, when we tried to fab up the alternator, tensioner, and bracket off the car, the alternator wouldn't fit. the siding of it is to thick and the bracket is about a 1/4 inch off so you cant thread the screw. anyone have to grind down the side of their alternator?

First, throw that hung of crap away or send it back. Next call Stainless works and tell them Metal Man Fabrications/Brett told you they sell a upper alternator relocation bracket and you want one. Talk with Scott if possible. You'll only need to make two spacers to separate the two brackets. The tensioner bolts right up to the new bracket. Worked out great for the turbo F-body I did. If you have any questions just drop me an e-mail.

Brett

Oh, you'll have to change the black plastic back to a diff. style. The pic doesn't show the tensioner but it bolts right on.

How big of spacers do you have to use? Like a washer size and how much is that bracket. I am in need of one soon.

My TTI brkt is ok, the holes for the bolts were a line to line fit though so I had to start them at the same time and work both a little at a time. I have had some tensioner trouble once a new belt stretches a bit and was going to switch to a katech or try the next smaller belt but just havnt gotten around to it.

okay so this is the plan, we are going to try and shave down the side of the bracket a little bit (that parts that is hitting the alternator) and if worse comes to worse a little bit of the alternator as well. if that doesnt work then i guess ill order a new bracket using metal mans suggestion.

WT....? I thought we were fixing you up? I know sscam68 was just waiting on me to give the green light on his latest revision, and I told him all was good so you should have yours soon....PM sscam68 to see whats going on. He is an engineer by trade so perfection is what he goes for and I'm sure you won't be disappointed in his bracket.

I had those two brackets with my kit too, but never used them. My bracket i had to modify the holes a little bit to get them to line up. I had no problems otherwise.

You'll need about six inches of 1/2" tube I believe is what I used. They go between the front bracket and rear to keep the same space as the alternator thickness. It'll make more since when you have them in your hand. You will have to get different bolts and like I mentioned before, replace or remove the black plastic cover on the back of the alternator. It hits the oil fill/valve cover if you don't remove it. Best bracket on the market for a great price.
