id go with 9.0, its not too low, and if you ever decide to go turbo, or larger blower you will have enough compression(actually lack of it) that you can run the lil more boost you want to

just my thoughts.

I would go to 8:1...that is the compression in my 403 and it is fine driving around off boost. You will have a few less cubes, but it should be pretty close. You'll go bigger blower or different FI setup eventually, I will almost guarantee it

The lower compression will be a little more forgiving to boost and a bad tank of gas. One thing to keep in mind though is the lower compression is to make it harder to pass smog with the car...give and take!

My car is that low and I bet I can get it to pass the sniffer test with about an hour of tuning time...possibly without cats.

Thanks but I think 8:1 is too low. I will never be able to spin my P1 that high. Plus I want to make sure I can pass the sniffer.

I guess I will stay closer to 9.0

Chances are that you will go with a bigger blower in the future, just sucks having to pay for things twice...

Go to the D1, and find a shop that doesn't do a rigorous visual. They exist, particularly if they know who you are and have seen your car before. They'll usually just be concerned with the sniffer. My heads/cam/longtube setup passed on 224/224/114, but I got numbers that were at the limits. Don't know if 115 might be too much...

What about starting with thicker-decked heads (like the AFRs) that you could have milled down if you wanted/needed to increase your CR? That way you could start out at 9.0 but have the option of going a bit higher... without buying new heads or ripping into the bottom end.

I won't be able to push it as hard as the D1. I got 8# out of it before. So with a SDCE and smaller pulley I think I can get 10#

you're in the same boat as me,except im turbo'd.my turbo kit only came with a t67,which is still an upgrade for companies like the STS kit,but still the poor little turbo will be maxed out so quick, same as with your SC.i guess thats a good thing in a way since it means youre making enough power to either break something or max something out.

Did some calcs:

MMS with the 3.7 will spin the P1 @ 6200 to about 53931
SDCE with the 3.4 will spin the P1 @ 6200 to about 54204

Guess I won't hit that 10#. Unless I was slipping.

DD,
The one thing you have over Ed is that, a new turbo is much less expensive than the procharger. And you can always upgrade.
Herd anything on those injectors by the way?
Thanks

You WERE seeing slip.... i switched from the MMS pulley and went with the SDCE setup...... You can always get a 3.2" 8 rib pulley from Riecard Racing (or how ever you spell it)..... i had a 3.3" fwiw..
