Default Muffler Suggestions

Well I tried a 5" inlet/outlet Donaldson Mufffler for Diesel buses ect... It was just to loud for the neighbors and my wife. So I purchased a 5" Aero-Turbine and its just as loud at idle and just slightly less loud at cruising speed.

Should I split the 5" into a couple three incher's? I'm looking for a pretty tame sound level. Any idea's

Depends on how much exhaust flow your willing to lose. You can calculate flow by multiplying Pi times your radius squared.

Currently you are flowing 3.14*(2.5*2.5)=19.625 cubic inches of air per inch of exhaust.

With two 3 inch pipes you will flow 2*(3.14*(1.5*1.5))=14.13 cubic inches of air per inch of exhaust.

Not sure if this will cause any major back pressure issues in you system. But just figured I'd through this info your way if you didn't know already.

You could always go with the dual mufflers and add in cutouts for when you seroiusly need it. That would probably be the best of both worlds, quiet for keeping the wifey, neighbors and cops happy, then uncorcked when you need to lay the smack down on someone or **** off some of the aformentioned people .

Yea, a 5" pipe flows A LOT of air.... do you think you need it all? I think Jose from ForcedInductions said he was flowing 1000hp through his Viper turbo car with dual 3" pipes.... you probably aren't going to need all 5" of that pipe unless your setup is REALLY sick!!!

Split 'em up into two 3" pipes.

Dynomax Ultraflow welded, those will quiet stuff down, and flow nicely.

What power level are you at?

I'm making 754rwhp thru dual 3" Magnaflow mufflers.

I'm not sure what power level... 15lbs of boost and a fair bit of tuning to do yet.

I decided on two 4" inlet/outlet 24" body Magna Flows. Hopefully it will quiet it down a load. The Areo Turbine did a great job for a 5" straight.
