For 9lbs of boost just go with the new 8 rib D-1SC ATI. Whats the C/R on the engine?

Both are good choices. I think you can find the ATI's cheaper due to there overwhelming popularity etc...

Now that ATI has the belt problem worked out I would recommend them simply because of the much larger head unit (1450 {D1SC} cfm vs 800). Especially since you have heads, cam etc., which help the engines overall flow but the blower must be able to keep up with it. If you did prefer Vortech there are shops that would sell a kit with a larger head unit (S,T,YSi), SpeedInc. & RMCR come to mind.

If you have a forged 347 already, just switch over to 6.0L heads or 72cc AFR 225s. You want 9.2-9.5 CR if you want to run 12lbs or so.

I would get it down to 8.5:1 to 9:1. I have a d1sc with twin highflows and love the setup. If you do go ATI, I would recommend the D1SC or the D1. With a cammed application, the p1sc needs to spin faster to keep up, therefore running hotter. For Vortech, I would say go YSi and get the aftercoooler.

Procharger D1SC
I am runing the D1 @ 9psi on a stock block and putting down 540rwhp 534tq. It is a great unit! The D1 will let you grow even more, with your block you will have a save and strong setup with nothing to worry about.

Few things I like about Procharger is that it dose not clutter up your bay, air to air coolers vs water, self contained oil system-cooler and if the blower would ever have problems you would have less of a chance for anything to enter the engine, as to the vortech ties in to engine's (hot) oil supply for its lubercation.

Just make sure you go with the 8 rib drive setup and a pinned crank pulley and you will be set.

Vortech runs their lubrication thru the oil filter, you want that. If metal fragments break in a self contained unit, guess what it takes out the unit.

The aftercooler cools the charge so much you can touch it with your hand and it will be cool, it circulates the water to a radiator which then circulates back up to the airflow ensuring cool air ALL the time. You can put ice in or add water wetter to enhance .

Just do a search, the ATI makes a power but they have had a history of problems and you will more than likely have to spend the money upgrading your brand new kit to get it right.

Use the search feature, hundreds of threads on this comparison

Problems were old news on the ATI. Now the new 8 Rib setup has zero problems. I never even touched my belt after the first install and i drive the car as hard as i can.

No it doesn't. They are collected by the magnet on the drain plug. They have pretty strong transmissions, especially the F-series, so if something isn't caught by the drain plug, it's not very likely to destroy the blower. If it is large enough to destroy the blower, it would be something that would happen to any blower.

I saw his posts. He sucked something into the blower and it destroyed the impeller. That could happen to any brand of blower. Has nothing to do with the type of oiling system.
