If I did a new motor it would be an LS2 with a stock crank, maybe a little more stroke, but not 4.000.
But if you did a big inch stroker and small boost (10psi), you could probably go mid 10's on pump gas. But that stroker might not work as well if you were going for bottom nine's and spinning the motor to 7200.

I was thinking that too. Bigger cubes = more power on pump gas as you don't need as much boost to make it. To each their own of course. Word of advice, set your ultimate goal, build a plan behind it, take aim at that, work from there. If you drive the car mostly on the street with occational passes, you might be better off with more cubes and less boost (easier with pump gas). Personally, nothing wrong with going with a somewhat compromise and keep cost down now while watching the aftermarket game with blocks, including the LS7. Get yourself a cheap-street forged 370 (middle of the road) wear that out and then go from there. If you run the car hard often, you'll be rebuilding more frequently anyways.
