STS Idle problem?
STS Idle problem? Ever since I've had my STS kit installed, I've had a very rough idle. It seems that whenever I'm in the low RPMs or 1st gear, the car feels like it wants to die. When I start the car, the needle bounces back and forth between about 1800 and 300 rpms until it finally smoothes out to 800. This process usually takes it about 15-20 seconds and typically requires a bit of user-foot intervention on the gas so it wont actually die. It again feels like it will die when coming to a stop if it's not gradual. Ideas on what might be causing that problem? My thoughts are that it might be the after-market de-screened MAF that sits off the bend in the pipe in front of the radiator. Could it be that the incoming air is too eradic coming off the bend that the sensor is getting all sorts of different signals? I'm looking for any other theories that anyone might have. Put the MAF in a straight section of pipe and it may fix it for you. Mine works fine without a screen so far... 
My idle had similar characterstics after I descreened my stock MAF, but not quite as eradic (sp?). I wish I would have known before, I definitely wouldn't have descreened it.
Thanks a bunch, guys. I figured it was because of the MAF but it seemed to work like a champ with my lid before the turbo. Well, I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow. ;-)
