Default More newbie qestions

I am trying to find out what the part number is for the larger of the K&N filters to fit the F1. Can anyone help me?

If I understand right, a new cooling fan comes with the Procharger kit. Is there anyone that is not having cooling issues with this fan? I have seen several people opting for the Spal fan. What is the part number and which sponsors sell them?

Has anyone put the motor back in from under the car with the Procharger already bolted on? Are there any tricks I could use to make it easier?

I am sure I have more questions, but that is all I will throw out right now.

Thanks!

I had overheating issues with the fan ATI supplies with their kit. It would cool ok when driving, but as soon as it sat for a few minutes idling it would jump right to 210 or over and then blow out the overflow. Car is driven in Wichita, Kansas. It gets hot in the summer.

Obviously I checked everything such as the thermostat (a 160), Meziere electric water pump, clogged radiator and/or condensor, or bad radiator cap. All were OK.

To fix the problem I cut an additional nine inch hole on the driver side of the ATI shroud and mounted a Spal 9 inch puller (pn 30102061). I also replaced the ATI 16 inch with the Spal Extreme puller fan (pn 3012113).

After the installation of the Spal fans I purposely let the car sit in the hot sun (95 degrees) and idle with the AC on and it would not go over 185 after I installed the two fans. I can't get it to overheat after a hard pull on boost either now.

The two Spal fans pull 3700 cfm (3000 cfm for the 16 inch and 740 cfm for the 9 inch). The Spal fan is loud but it pulls much better than the ATI fan.

The Spal extreme bolts right up. You will have to get some rubber insulation to seal the fan to the ATI shroud. I got it at Lowe's. The Spal fan on the Extreme mounts about a 1/4 inch into the shroud, but the one-sided stick-on black rubber insulation mounted around the hole will raise the fan just enought so it doesn't extend into the 16 1/2 inch hole of the shroud.

The Spal fans wire into the same wires as the stock 11 inch fans. Once installed both fans look just like stock and not a hack job.

Call Keith at Spal and he will give you a number of a dealer near you.

http://www.spal-usa.com/html/dampframe.htm

Note: I have read that the ATI fan is made by Spal, however the markings on the ATI fan say it is made in the USA. Spal fans are made in Italy.

Keith at Spal said they supply a fan to ATI, but for the Corvette kit.

I know your problem from the beginning..... before you went and spent money...... the ATI fan was wired backwards........ thats why you were over heating....... m ine did the same thing and i was like WTF did the same thing on the freeway and would over heat.... followed what ATI said to do in the install manual..... it was wrong... the fan was pushing instead of sucking....... switched the wires...... it worked..... then called ATI and told them they were dumbasses.... and havent had a probel yet..... I live in S. Texas and it gets WAYYYYY hotter down here......... and i have an Iron block, stock thermostat, and a stock water pump. Fans are programmed to come on sooner.... and i ran at 185 all day long in stop or go... in the colder weathe ri even went below 185 on the freeway.

We will se with my new Turbo setup and new Griffin Rad. and 16" SPAL Fan...

Sorry, but you are wrong at least with my install. The ATI fan was pulling from the getgo.

There's isn't any comparison between the draw/pull the SPAL makes compared to the wimpy ATI. I even did a temp comparison between the two with a RayTec temp gun. The temp of air drawn is considerably higher with the SPAL which proves the SPAL draws through the radiator better than the ATI.

Can't find it on the member list..

I also need to know about the radiator support. Is BMR the only one that makes one? Will the stock on work or not?

Can anyone throw out some odds and ends that I might not be thinking of?

Thanks again...

Don't know yet, I don't have the motor or the F-1 as of now. I am waiting on heads and my F1 kit is supposed to ship this week.

I am just trying to go ahead and get everything together that I can to cut down on downtime when I do actually get my parts.

Why, what are you getting at?
