Custom turbo?
Custom turbo? i might have the possibility to get my hands on a turbo from an old 3000gt, and i was just kinda curious if it was possible to have it custom made to work for my car? also what kind of price range? i know all the lines and fittings would have to be custom made, but is this something that a shop could realistically do fairly cheap? i dont really know anything about turbos.
If you're at all serious about putting a turbo on your car, buy "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. This book goes over turbo systems front to back and gives you a good deal of advice on building your own turbo. It's not a very hard read, but it's not some guy blabbing on and on about stupid stuff either. It'll be the best $25 you spend on your turbo system. It's A LOT of good information... JUST BUY IT!!!

if the 3000gt had a turbo it was a vr4, which means it was originally twin turbo. those turbo's are really really small. u'll max it beyond maxing out. i think u could use 4 of those turbos, but that would be the minimum amount.

WASTE of your time. Get a turbo that will actually work on this motor. Those small as turbos will be maxed in no time. You'd get more power from bolt-ons and cam, while coming in a whole lot cheaper too.
Go get a turbo sized for your motor and build from there.

Yeah thats a good idea, I did a turbo swap on a vr4, the upgraded 13g turbos we put on were tiny, the stockers are the smallest turbos I have ever personally seen. Didnt even make a decent paper weight. Youd have maximum flow at idle id imangine with those tiny turbos.
we since upgraded his car to 14b's and they are a decent sized turbo, two of those may be a plausable upgrade (there stock turbos from eclipes')
