(2) reasons
Reason 1: No where in that list does it say what his CR ratio is.Remember this engine is a Big Block. So he has more area to squeeze air into, his 10:1 is not the same as the Small Block. I would guess 8.0:1, also if you were not aware, I made 822RWHP (see Sig) on 93 oct. with 10:1. It was not until the boost went to 18.6psi that I had a problem. That took my statid to something like 24 to 1. I could have run 15psi all day with no problems on 93 oct.
Reason 2: Air to Water intercooler. 1000RWHP is about the upper limit on a really cool day on the Air to Air thing. Beyond that Air to water, and at those PSI numbers the Air to Water does a better job of cooling.

I remeber this build-up well. I beleive it was Chevy High Performance that showed Procharger building this car. I was setup at about 8:1 compression, used an F-2 head unit, and spun relatively high (for a BBC). The larger head unit allowed them to move a huge amount of air efficiently, and allowed for lower IATs, which helps to keep detonation at bay. Definitely a purpose-built machine, meant to show the possibilities. Something else to think about is that they used a blow-through carb, and from the research I have seen, has it's own cooling effect on incoming air. I don't remember the exact term, but it has been discussed and proven before.

Actually, it was 7.5:1 compression and you're right, it was using a large air/water I/C.

Big cubes + 7.5:1 compression + intercooler + huge blower + cog drive

Pretty impressive.

It uses teeth on the pulleys instead of grooves or ribs. Zero slippage, but kinda hard on things. Not very many run them on this forum.
