Default Which Block?

Well i know this has probably come up before but i was just wondering what most of you guys are using as far as stout blocks for forced induction applications. What is your experience and how long have you had it, how many passes on it. What would you recommend as far as a indestructable block. I know one of the best ways to go is C5R but other then that what else will hold 500-800rwhp. I am wanting to know for future reference and also to help a buddy of mine out. I plan on spraying a 200 shot on top of heads and a stout cam later on down the road and want a block that will hold without blinking a eye.

The short of it. Stock blocks are strong. You will not break the block. The mains may walk, but the block will not split. If you want the add assurance, just go with one of the 6.0L truck iron blocks. Make sure you get it sonic checked, and you should be good to go. For added strength, run billet main caps. And, oh yeah, stick around a for a few more months, rumor has it World will be producing something, along with the aussies.

Yeah, if I was building a forced induction LS1 for myself, it would be a 6.0 iron block.

The stock block will hold ALOT of power, assuming you beef it up a little and the car is tuned RIGHT! Personally, when the funds are available I will be going with either a 408 or 427 iron block at about 8:1 or 8.5:1 CR. I plan on running 16-18 psi.

If that is the case why dont more guys run the stock block with upgraded internals? Why do they spend the money on a heavier block? What all is needed for our block to hold this kind of power? Thanks for all the input guys.

The iron block is stronger than the aluminum block....but the aluminum block isn't exactly weak. Most guys just want the greater displacement associated with the iron block.
