"Yeah? Sorry, can't help you there."

Building any car is a loosing deal unless you are buying unfinished projects cheap and building them strictly for profit, when you go to sell you will be lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar for the parts you bought. Borrowing money and paying interest + losing over 50% if you have to bail is a bad bad investment

If you cant afford to pretty much throw the money in the garbage dont do it, especially an FI car.

The demons and devils that run Visa and Mastercard have been known to dance around blown stock shortblocks when the moon is full and the mail is full of minimum payments from unsuspecting speed junkies!

Just get a second job, FI is worse than Cocaine.

Cause some people on here make $250,000+ a year. It's not that hard to throw $80,000 into a car when you are making that. Forced Induction isn't for your average joe. If it were, there would be A LOT more people running it. I being one of them.

you can do a lot without money. driving and tuning can get you far with minimal investment. there's a lot of people out there with 8k worth of extras and going mid 12s. or maybe it's time to go over to the dark side and start road racing, and you'll find out that the power you have already is hard to handle

You also dont have to spend a ton of money. First thing with any car is to set a clear and acheivable goal for your income level. If you want to run fast dont **** around with doing things 10 times over and take the time to put the right parts in the first time, may take longer that way and the car may be down for a year or two but the outcome will be much better.

Going a little at a time and redoing things 20 times over will put anyone in the poor house quick because you will lose your *** on every upgrade/change.

A lot depends if you are doing the work yourself or paying for it also, if you are paying for it double your $$ estimate and you will never recover a penny of labor so remember that also.

This stuff is a lot like cocain, only difference is you can get a few bucks back when you sell the car

Mastercard racing WILL bite you in the *** down the road, I have done it several times and will never do it again..

I just took out a loan to pay off my credit card and "make car repairs". Paying off my credit card and putting it on a lower interest loan was a good step and I will save money even after paying interest for the extra "repairs" since I plan on paying off a 2 year note in 6 months. I just couldn't wait to get a blower and came across a good deal that would not have been there in a few more months. The loan officer didn't ask what repairs needed to be done to my car, but if he had, I would have told him that it was too slow Probably a good thing he didn't tho Plus, it bumped my credit up a lot which is good as I plan to get the house mod here in about a year, so any extra good credit will help me out immensly (thousands worth) when it comes to getting me a lower interest rate when buying a home! So I think it will work out for the best for me.

If you cant afford to throw mega bucks around just do a nitrous kit and stay sensible. It is definitely way cheaper to get started and the stock motor can handle a 150 shot easily with minor supporting mods. 1500 bucks can get you 500-600RWHP quite safely. No turbo/supercharger kit will be able to do that for that price.

oh yea, if you don't have a plan, and a reasonable goal/expectations you will end up nickle and diming yourself to (financial) death. once you know where you wanna be, approximate the costs, compare it with income you can spend on it, and stick to it. you will always end up needing more than you planned originally, and of course **** breaks all the time, so you add ~20% to everything you do as a margin of error. some things are doable in chunks (brakes, wheels/tires) others you have to do all at the same time for the best result (FI, engine buildup, suspension), so you wanna synchronize the savings/spending with the parts purchased. the worst thing you can do is to overhype yourself, as that's when you stop thinking logically and whip out your credit cards. patience is your best weapon, remember that this **** will only get better and cheaper with time.

Stealth used to say old guys have the fastest cars. One consolation of being older is I now have cash to blow on whatever.

thanks for giving me some incentive to wait. i really appreciate it. I dont know if you guys know it but im only 19 and i feel pretty lucky as is to have a 399 rwhp car thats N/A.... I have been saving everything i have for a long time to be where i am now.....

what id really like to be is the youngest with the most horse power and fastest time slip here on LS1tech.

*note* i said fastest 19 year old.... not fastest period

how do you guys think i stack up right now.....

this winter I'll have my 408 done... i know that.... so i might have to drive a Low CR motor around for a little while before it gets a PTK kit with A2W IC and about a 76gts....

i dont ever plan to nickle and dime anything... i found that out when i was very very young.... I feel like so far i havent done that and i dont ever plan to start.

if some of you guys could give some estimates for a turbo kit id love to here them....

so far with

fuel system - 2000$
turbo kit - ~6600$
950 commander EMS - 1200$
injectors ~ 700$
K-member ~ 600$ (do this while motor is out)
408 long -

that comes to about 11,100 just for above listed.

any thing important i missed?
