Default Thinking of making some changes to my setup, tell me what you think

Here is what i'm thinking of doing.

Z06 cam, I really want a stock like idle, better gas milage and more area under the curve. I'm pretty sure this cam will give me what I want. It should allow me to spool up faster.

Swap to a 9 psi WG spring since the 6 psi one is just weak sauce for anything over 10 psi.

Put my LQ9 heads on the car

ARP Studs

Cometic .074 gaskets, this in addition to the 6.0 heads should get me around 9.0:1 compression.

What do you guys think? Low boost will then be 10 psi and High boost will be 15-16 psi I'm thinking it will get me close to 700 rwhp. I'm very interested to see how long this motor will last at those power levels. I was going to start my 408 project soon, but decided i'm going to do the rearend first.

Besides, at this point everyone who knows me allready thinks i'm crazy for making this much on a 73k mile stocker.

The other option is to just do a 370 motor since it's pretty cheap and sell the stock long block for $750 or so since it's still a good running motor.

I dont think I would be adding anything to the motor that could be damaged if something decides to blow. I wouldnt want to be out any more money if I could help it.

I would build up the 370 block and boost the crap out of it.

If you have the money to do it, go for it. I would love to see someone push the limits!

Personally, I would spend money building a new forged piston motor, and swap it when you are ready. If you are really wanting to mod this motor, I would do what you said, skipping the thick Cometic's. Your quench will be huge and could lead to excess detonation you don't need. How much? I don't know.

Talked to my friend about this and made the decision to not touch it. I'm just going to continue my collecting of parts for the new forged motor.

It will be the cheapest way.

Not to high jack the thread at all, but are you gonna be in town when SEMA goes down? I should have my car ready by then and would like to meet up and maybe get a couple races and cruises in...
