Low compression 408 break in..

Default Low compression 408 break in..

I am trying to find out what to do about the break in on my 8:1 compression 408. I am planning on running about 15-20 pounds of boost, but thought I could run without the supercharger, until I get it dyno tuned. I though I could get a cheap mail order tune until I put the break in miles on the engine, then slip the belt on, and have it tuned right.

Would it run good enough to let me put the break in miles on it without the boost?

Any help would be appreciated.

i broke mine in for about 1200 miles NA an took it easy as possible before 1000. Like not leaving it wot for long periods. I actually kept it under 4000 rpm as well.

break it in in the burnout WFO...juss kidding with ring tech and hone tech the way it is now your looking @ ten minutes to full ring seal(matt hartford@totalseal.com)as long as clearences are not tight in rod and main bearings you should be fine before 500 just dont detonate......

But would it totally drive like *** N/A with a mail order tune? I don't want to waste the time or the money to tune it on the dyno N/A or on low boost and have to do it again after the engine is broken in.

You need to do a couple of hard WOT runs with engine breaking( let the car decelerate without the brakes ) to seat the rings. After that, give it hell

he mail order tune will be off with or with out the belt on.I would suggest breaking in (no belt)then getting to a reputable chassis dyno and get a custum tune....
