Default 500 to 600 RWHP WTF

I keep reading about a lot of cars making 500 to 600 RWHP with stock motors is this for real or is some of it inflated ? The reason I ask is My car has a completly stock motor / 3200 Yank / built 4L60/ 323 's/ with a T-76 with a great tune and it only makes 429 RWHP and 500 RWT. at 9#
did I miss some thing or do some cars just make more power than others ?
Can I turn the boost up 1 or 2 # without a retune ?
And how much would a set of 342s help ?
The car runs great right now but as you all know we always want more

Thanks.

The converter soaks up some power on the dyno, so you're actually making more than what is shows. Our '95 Formula with it's stock LT1 equipped with an ATI ProCharger P-1SC and it's high stall converter only makes 362 rwhp on my Mustang Chassis Dyno, yet it runs 11.32 at 118 mph. I wouldn't push with the stock bottom end much higher than where you are at. Bob

Stall, auto, mustang dyno, only 9# and probably a safe tune. How big is your Intercooler? If its the small TTI front mount then your IAT's are too high to add more timing. Its allot of things but Im sure your car hauls ***. The right cam can get you 30 or 40 more and they are pretty cheap.

P.S. if you are going to spend $700 to change gears to a 3.23 just save your money for a better rear end, you will probably need it.

dyno's are just tuning tools, the mph at the track gives you a better indication of power.

if those are dynojet numbers with the converter locked...your numbers are low.
Keep the 3.23 gears...take that money and buy an alky kit.

What kind of MPH are you turning at the track? My moms WS6 made 490 RWHP with 7 psi from a vortech. Her car is an M6, tuned by a professional, and dyno'd on a dynojet. It "only" traps high teens though. Dyno numbers are great for bench/internet racing, but they aren't useful for much else IMO. Use the dyno to tune the car, then run it at the track.

Thanks, I'll try to get it to the track tomorrow night for some real numbers.

What kit are you running? That auto trans and stall will kill your dyno numbers. What kinda tire did you dyno on? If it was a slick that will also lower your number. Anyway don't race dyno's they are very hard to move. Just get to the track and get a slip. Like said before your mph is a true indication of the power you make.

Ya i think that your numbers arent of too much. I made 531 hp adn 534 tq at 10 psi. When i turned it to 12 psi i made around 600 hp. So ya figure you are a psi less then me adn have a auto that isnt locked up with a big converter and it all makes sense. GL man

TTi kit with Nitto 555R
Yes it's the tti front mount intercooler. I only have one big spal fan on the radiator now and it wants to get hot if I run it hard . So I'm going to get another fan to put on it to.

Can you add 1 or 2 # more boost without having it retuned ? Has anyone done it on a dyno to see the differents.

Well the thing is we dont know what your current tune looks like. Like how close to lean condition it is at already. And how much timing is in there. My tune is 13* at max TQ and 10 at 6k RPM. If you have alot of timing then it wouldnt be a good idea to boost it more. But if ya have low timin like i do, then its ok to add a psi or 2. You will definatly feel a difference between 9 adn 11 psi. GL man

You should pick up a good 20-30 rwhp with the right cam. Ive seen a lot of guys use the lingenfelter gt2-3 cam. There are other good ones out there though that should give you good gains as well. Also, have you had any head work done or are you on the stock 5.7's? A low compression head and a blower cam should put you almost to that 500rwhp mark. Also, if you went with some 6.0 liter heads youd be able to bump up the PSI a few pounds too. Good luck though and sounds like your car is a beast!

Stock motor, 10psi, 11.0-11.3 A/F, very conservative timing, 556rwhp - calculated by raceweight and trap speed.

The Mustang Dyno it was dynoed on read nothing near what the car actually puts down at the strip. It was a good 60-70rwhp difference. This was on a 6 speed car.

LOL, those calculators are always off! Hell, based on trap speed and raceweight my car is at 616rwhp. Maybe not.
