Default THE reason why you should plan on doubling or tripling the cost of your setup

when ever anyone asks how much a turboset up will cost or they plan on builing one and they do an estimate on how much it will cost, i always tell them they need to double that number or even triple

here is an example why: Today i just ordered 4 small things i needed, didnt really think about that i needed them untill im getting closer to the end of my install
i needed
exaust paint
bends to make a radiator hose, as my placement is custom
3 quarts of tranny fluid as i drianed it out getting the tranny out all by my self (came unlevel, spilled out, didnt have a plug)
and header wrap paint

the total was $135

last week i spent another $100 to get a couple of little things like a few silicon reducers i needed, a couple of clamps, header wrap, and two relays.

this stuff adds up, and alot of it i cant even remeber what all i bought that drove this cost way up.

you got to pay to play my friends.

can't argue with that. Its all the little things that you don't think about or you might need when dong FI....especially a custom setup.

Total agree, or you buy a hose coupler thinking it will work and you find out it will not.. So you need another one, but the freight to send that first back is about what the part cost so you keep it...
Several trips to the store for misc, stuff. The gas alone you never think about..

You could certainly make an argument that the swimming pool will not increase the value of the home.

But it will

I'm sure you get enough rain. Just dig a hole and put her in it. There's her "in-ground pool" To tell you the truth pools are more of a money pit than a car. You constantly have to buy supplies to keep it running and just like anything else it will break over time.

I cant tell you how many times ive gone to autozone for little things (like caliper paint, engine bay paint, undercoat, exahust clamps, breathers, switches, silicone, adhesives, oil, trans fluid, coolent, powersteering fluid, grease, grease gun, nuts and bolts ect...) Ive probably spent $2-3000 on little crap that no one every factors in. I didnt do a turbo set-up, but it follows along the same line as every other big project.

I agree, its the small stuff that kills you! Anyone who thinks they can estimate the total cost of their turbo setup first try is on crack.

How true its scary were the cost will end up at particulary if you want to take it pass just the standard bolt on package.

You set out with all these good intentions but the takes over and you just have to keep going.

What really sucks is all the money you waste before you even know what your doing, How many guys here have changed their setup at least once and had to sell a bunch of expensive *** parts for $.50 on the dollar?? Man the money I have wasted on this damn car. What a nice little pity party we have going on here!

Oh well I dont care, its still slightly cheaper than a drug habit or a mistress!

Game on!

I love when I see the posts for "budget build ups" ot that such and such setup should cost x amount of dollars.. There is no such thing as a budget build up. Unfortunately you can only go as fast as your wallet and paycheck let you go.

I wish my little parts only added up to $100 lol. Every time i buy something its $1000 atleast. I just ordered 2 tires and a 5 point harness and that was a grand. I have about 25-30k in the car in less than a year.
