Default PTK info

Well,

I have the PTK kit on the car and running . The kit is a very nice kit and contains quality components.

Everything seems to fit well but it is REALLY tight! All of the parts come coated with V-band clamps throughout the whole kit. The kit comes with a new high volt alternator and two pusher fans. The kit also comes with a turbo blanket and three 3" blanket shields which are worth their weight in gold if you ask me.

The kit is lacking instructions and I had to deal with an idler pulley issue. The hook up for the alternator won't work with the factory alternator lead, you have to use a 12 volt switched power source so the alternator will yield a full charge. The one wire you want to use on the alterantor is the yellow wire for those who will be installing a kit. I am working out a down pipe issue right now( I need to loosen the V band clamps so see I can keep it from hitting the steering knuckle, I think it will be okay) but other then that the kit is pretty sweet.

I am waiting until next week when I can get a reflash for the 60 lbs injectors I want to put in. Right now I am idling it with the stock injectors so I can't get into it at all. After that I will head to the dyno.

Specs on the car:
Stock LS1 block, crank, and main bolts
I beam rods
SRP pistons and rings
Stock 317 heads with Comp springs (918 blue strip springs I think)
Stock cam
ARP head studs torque to 75 with moly lube
Stock LS6 intake
Stock home ported TB
60 pound mototrons
Dual intank Walbros with -8 feed and Aeromotive reg., stock feed as return
LG radiator
76 GTS turbo
4" OBX front mount with 3 " piping
Mega sonic BOV
Hooker cat back
Stock rear and driveshaft
Ram cint/kev clutch

I have pictures if someone wants to host them I also have pictures of my notched core support for a bigger radiator.

I would also like to thank all of the people on this board who have helped me through the install. Slowhawk, Frcefed98, MIGHTYMOUSE and the list goes on....THANKS GUYS!

Let me know if someone wants to host some pictures.

Thanks,
Glenn

You can upload pictures on ls1tech if they meet the size requirements. Sounds like a killer set up! Can't wait to see the pictures.

And what is this 12 volt switched power source for the alternator? Because alot of TTi guys (me included) who relocated their alternators are having problems keeping their voltage out of the red at idle. Wonder if that might help...

yeah for some reason the small red factory wire that goes to the alternator only gives 10 volts while idling. I ran a wire straight from the battery and the volts jumped to 13 so we will see what happens with it when it is running.

The pictures I have are huge but I will try and get them up.

Thanks for the remarks,
Glenn

Thanks a lot for keeping us informed.

So you took a wire right off the battery to the place that the red wire used to go to on teh back of the alternator? I would liek to get more volts outta my alternator and if that works ill get a switched 12v sourcs to the back of the alternator.
Sounds liek ya are having fun man. Cant wit to see ya pics

Yeah, I ended up using switched power for the alternator off of the inside fuse panel.

I hope to have it on the dyno soon. I have been working on this thing for months. Precision turbo was one of the biggest hold ups. Getting a turbo from them is a little bit of a joke. They make a good product though.

Frcefed, the pics are coming your way. Be patient there are a lot of them

hey glenn, look into photobucket.com they are imo aweseome for storing pictures. they give you a URL so that the picture will be visible, its free, and they will automatically resize it for you.

i love photobucket personally.

Just an FYI,

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I actually had the kit sometime in April and I started and ran the car over a month ago. The two reasons it took so long was from the turbo and the radiator. I used to have an Innovative GT80BB that my buddy built for me(he works at innovative) It was actually an 83mm turbo he took an 88 wheel and cut it down to fit the 80 housing. Well when the kit came the 3" DP would not fit since the turbo came with a 3.5" V-band on the hot side. Innovative will not use anything smaller then a 3.5" DP with that turbo, so I sold it and waited 13+ weeks for the Precision. Then I received the Griffen and it leaked from one of the welds AND the pressed in overflow tube on the radiator was loose enough you could spin it. So I sent it back and I ordered the LG...sucker better work..it was a fortune

Louie I will check out the URL you gave me...thanks.

I work two jobs and go to school so my time is limited. I was sick today and had some time to post

Thanks again Jer for posting,
Glenn
