Well thx for the info that there is no real info.

This is going to be the big charger in a set of compund chargers for my Ford diesel. I'm hoping it can push more then 120 lbs/min at a 2.6 PR. A bit diffrent then you guys here but there are so many turbo experts there I figured I'd ask.

Here's a pic I had of the gt42 vs gt47. Guess which is which

In person, my gt42 setting next to my buddy's gt47 looks like a small kids toy.

Without compressor maps how are you guys making the decision to use them? Just trial and error?

BTW if anyone had even a guess due to there experience on what PR and lbs/min this thing can do efficently please post your guesses.

when you compond charge wouldnt that make the compressor map useless anyways? not sure though.

sounds like an interesting project, youll have to post some pics when you get some work done.

I have a friend that compounded his 12 valve cummins. Spools like stock and makes 500+ rwhp and around 1200 rwtq.

He used a HT3B turbo, uses the T5 flange I believe, same opening as t4 just wider mounting bolt holes. Brand new cost him about $450. Looks like an 80 mm inducer on it. He used the stock turbo on a flipped manifold and stuck it right below it.

He's also running 3 intercoolers... why? Because he can Two OBX i/c's + the stocker. He recently added water/alky injection. Truck only makes 55psi since he's stock right now. It's fun to do a highway rollon with a LS1 car

You still need maps. Trying to keep both turbos running close to the same pressure ratio. If I had a gt60 running at a PR of 2.6 pushing 130 lbs/min feeding the intake of a gt42 at a PR of 2.6 and 60 lbs/min I can keep both turbos right in the sweet spot of the maps. Big charger feeds about 23 psi into the vacume of the small one so it has to push 2x the CFM volume to hold that PSI, then the smaller one muti's what it is seeing into about 60 psi. ~23 x 2.6 It will be pushing about 60 PSI into the engine and not be all hot air.

Also this keeps drive pressure in check as getting a single to move that much air will either be really laggy or backpressure will be through the roof trying to spin that big o a wheel.

One other trick is wastegating the Exhaust fron in front of the first turbo into the DP going to the big charger so the big one doesn't lose any of the much needed gases to get it spinning.

I'm at 529 HP and 1044 lbs of TQ at 3300 RPM's now. Shooting for 600-700+ and 1300+ TQ when done.

Us diesels can't move the TQ that far up the RPM's to make HP so we need to make tons of TQ to get the numbers like that.

I might be using a GT42 94mm and a GT47 with a 102 or 108mm. GT47's that big run on Detroit Diesel Series 60 14.0L engines. I can get them pretty cheap for myself I think.

I'm by no means an expert but just doing as much research as possible. Doing this is not too uncommon in the diesel arena.

If you need diesel help give us a shout. Also you don't need a big compound system to make 500+ rwhp. We have our own test truck making 570rwhp/1280rwtq with a single. Getting it lit off the line is not a problem as well. We are going to try some new turbos out this next week possibly at the truck pull. We are running in the stock truck class againist the big compound trucks.

As for the GT47, it will map out almost identical to this map below...

Thx for the info.

I have hit 529 on a single but I was spraying some turbo in a bottle at it. Also, I have a Ford.
